Who I am

My name is Mario Georgiou. Despite sharing my first name with a famous Italian plumber, I am not from Italy: my family is Cypriot. I grew up in North London, and I have been splitting my time between London and Budapest since 2022. I am specialized in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. I did my training in London, my accreditation was approved by the British Psychological Society and you can find me in the official UK register of Mindfulness teachers.

I believe that in today’s world full of distraction, many people are losing the ability to truly face their feelings. Instead, our minds get stuck in unhelpful cycles of thoughts and worries –– making it increasingly difficult to relax. Sound familiar? I can help. And not just because of my professional training. When I was 16, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with Usher Syndrome, a rare condition. I am slowly losing my sight, and I will likely become blind one day.

Accepting this was the most difficult thing I have ever done – and it took me a while – but it has ended up teaching me something invaluable, namely that if we face the things we find the most difficult, if we go into them instead of distracting ourselves, our fears and worries lose their power. I have had to learn this the hard way - but you don’t have to. I love helping other people accept the facts of their lives and work with what they have. I am always willing to be vulnerable, too; I believe in real interactions.
